South Africa Hosting - IPL Twenty20 2009 Season

IPL - Indian Premier League is a Cricket Tournament played on Twenty 20 Overs both side is launched by BCCI ( Board of Cricket Control in india).

IPL works on franchisee system of hiring players and transfers to other teams.

IPL started its series in April 2008, eight teams participating and the league lasted for 44 days and in total 59 matches played between them.

The auction of selecting players started in January 2008 and the base for the palyers is $ 400 million and the auction fetched $ 723.59 million.

South Africa has overtaken England as the preferred venue to host the IPL next month. Lalit Modi, the IPL chairman, met with Cricket South Africa CEO Gerald Majola in Johannesburg on Tuesday, and the pair will conduct a press conference to discuss the outcome of their meeting at 8.30 PM IST.

Revised schedule will be decided and it is expected that the match will start from April 17, 2009 onwards.
